MIG Probes

Current Projects

Current MIG Projects include:

Grain industry delivery sites: Develop and implement best practice for the management of grain storage pests (aeration fans).  Funded by CRC

Soil Water Holding Capacity: Increase risk management and grower confidence and grain yields improvement resulting in increased returns to growers.  Funded by COGGO

Nitrogen & Soil Water Interactions: Monitor and improve Nitrogen use efficiencies on 4 of the major soil types in NAR. Funded by GRDC

Improving Productivity on Non-Wetting Soils in NAR through pasture cropping: Use an established trial to investigate the technique and methodology to establish an annual crop in perennials.  Funded by NACC

Nitrogen Generator: Develop and implement best practice for management of grain storage pests (Nitrogen).  Funded by PBCRC

Demonstration of perennial shrub systems enabling adaption to erosion and climate variability: To demonstrate that shrubs can reduce erosion and increase climate variability.  Funded by NACC

Working together to deliver multiple messages to growers through a whole systems approach to soil management: Increase understanding and therefore make better decisions around soil management.  Funded by GRDC

Delivering enhanced agronomic strategies for improved crop performance on water repellant soils:  Increase knowledge on soil repellence, deliver an extension strategy, develop management options.  Funded by GRDC

Pathways into CTF:  Encourage growers to implement Controlled Traffic Farming to reduce compaction.  Funded by DAFWA

Anameka Saltbush: Assess the establishment of this new variety of saltbush in the Northern Ag Region.  Funded by DAFF

Measuring, monitoring and understanding soil water holding properties:  Increase risk management and grower confidence and grain yields improvement resulting in increased returns to growers.  Funded by COGGO, in partnership with Agrarian Management.

Cell Grazing: To investigate the benefits of cell grazing in the Northern Ag Region. Funded by NACC

Dung Beetles: This project will investigate the establishment of dung beetles on sheep dung in the Northern Ag Region.  Funded by NACC

Understanding and Managing Subsoil Constraints: Looks at increasing profitability through efficiency and production gains associated with an improved subsoil.  Funded by GRDC
